Explore the ancient system of Chinese medicine for optimal health and well being

With long hospital waiting lists and our health service often unable to provide consistent and thorough treatment especially for people experiencing chronic conditions, it seems necessary that we seek alternatives. Acupuncture can be used as a preventative medicine; so that we might improve our chances of not getting sick in the first place, or to support people who already experience health issues. There are approximately 8000 published clinical trials and current research related to over 60 conditions is available from the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) website.

My work includes helping people navigate times of change and the  emotional turbulence that can accompany that. Stress as a huge driver of illness is at the centre of many of my patient’s lives; periods  of overwork and  overcommitment  having left them exhausted, overwhelmed and depleted. This can result in emotional and physical imbalances that often respond very well to acupuncture.

Using the wisdom of Chinese medicine I help people to unravel their sometimes complicated health issues that may have developed over a number of years. Chinese medicine has a wonderful way of explaining the unexplainable and helping to join the dots as to how a person may have reached a compromised or unsatisfactory place in their lives. In order to support treatment, dietary and lifestyle support is provided which often proves to be an empowering experience for those patients who are able to make such changes.

My post graduate training from within a Classical lineage has shaped the manner in which I practice acupuncture and its adjunct techniques. My patients are heard over a period of 1.5 hours in the first consultation and each session includes the space to talk as well as receive treatment. I take a thorough case history and form a diagnosis based on Chinese medical theory (not western medical diagnoses or principles). Subsequent sessions enable me to resolve uncertainties in my diagnosis and as such regular treatment is necessary especially in the beginning. I use observation skills, pulse taking, tongue diagnosis, palpation and listening to create a Chinese medicine diagnosis and a unique treatment strategy for each person.
